Bing Chat Enterprise brings data privacy to Windows Copilot

Today, Microsoft announced ‘Bing Chat Enterprise’ – bringing its AI-powered chatbot, ‘Windows Copilot’, what it bills as commercial data protection. Available now in the ‘Dev’ channel of its Insider Preview Builds for Windows 11, Microsoft says:

For your employees, the experience will be very similar to the existing experience with Bing Chat – the branding changes to reflect Bing Chat Enterprise, and there is a reminder with each prompt that personal and corporate data is protected.

For IT Pros and those responsible for data protection and compliance the changes are “under the hood.” Bing Chat Enterprise enables your organization to use Windows Copilot with confidence that your data is protected—chat data is not saved, Microsoft has no ‘eyes on’ access, and your data is not used to train the underlying models.

As there have been significant questions about the safety and security of using the garden-variety Windows Copilot – who knows where that data ends up, and who might see it? – this represents an attempt by Microsoft to ensure that its biggest business customers feel comfortable using Windows Copilot across their enterprises.
