The ChatGPT Mac app mostly acts as a desktop window version of the web app, allowing you to carry on back-and-forth prompt-and-response conversations.

You can be sure that Apple, Microsoft, Google, and others are going to continue to pack their operating systems with new AI features that require better hardware.

By making a deal with a company like OpenAI, which has been the source of a string of tech controversies recently, it’s understandable that some people don’t understand why Apple made the call & what it might entail for the privacy of their on-device data

References to the chips and OS can be found scattered across the blizzard of announcements about AI features and product updates.
Investors seemed to want more, sending Apple shares lower today as the announcement progressed. They closed down 1.9% to $193.12 by end of trading.

Many of Apple’s generative AI models can run entirely on a device powered by an A17+ or M-series chips, eliminating the risk of sending your personal data to a remote server.
Apple is rolling out what it says is a more conversational Siri, custom, AI-generated “Genmoji,” and GPT-4o access that lets Siri turn to OpenAI’s chatbot when it can’t handle what you ask it for.
Apple debuted “Apple Intelligence,” a new suite of free AI-powered features for iOS 18, iPadOS 18, macOS Sequoia that includes creating email summaries, generating images and emoji, and allowing Siri to take actions on your behalf.
